Colin grew up in the Sutherland Shire and his passion for gardening started early under the patient guidance of his grandparents who had a substantial patch at Connells Point.
Suzie grew up on a mixed farm (grains, sheep, cattle, horses, chickens and turkeys) in the Central West and as a child helped my mother with a large vegetable patch and orchard…plus milking the dairy cow and stock work with Dad.
We married in 2018, brought together our 7 kids and extended families who all love Twin Figs Farm. It is a working beef cattle farm, but we also have sheep (great Fireweed control), bees, chickens, a gorgeous kelpie, Luna. We planted an extensive orchard and continue to build out a large vegetable garden. We are farming using regenerative principles. Labour of love but moments of great joy!
The 65-acre farm has full creek frontage, swimming holes, amazing views of the Illawarra escarpment and a secret cedar forest. The stunning space under the fig trees includes an old convict brick water trough that has been repurposed as a fire pit and was the venue of their eldest daughter’s wedding in 2021 and youngest son’s wedding in 2025.
We are passionate about embedding the five principles of sustainable, regenerative farming: minimising soil disturbance, maximising crop diversity, keeping soils covered, maintaining living roots year-round and integrating livestock. We started by improving their pastures, eliminating weeds, creating a network of paddocks to allow rotational grazing and planting a substantial orchard and bountiful vegetable garden. We have grass fed beef and sheep, free range chickens and bee hives.
So many projects and jobs to tackle, many obstacles to overcome and such a big vision.
It’s been a mammoth effort, but totally worth it. Today, in addition to running their farm, we’ve developed a small range of products from the things we grow on the farm which are available online, onsite and through several local retail outlets.
We want to show you how easy it is to grow and eat delicious and nutritious food
